Berlin – ESI at public debate on ‘Flight and Peace’ in Europe

ESI’s Gerald Knaus was invited to participate in a discussion on “Flight and Peace”, organised by the international literature festival Berlin. 

Gerald discussed the current situation and the historical background of the war in Ukraine, repression in Russia, and the Ukrainian refugee crisis. He advocated for continued Western support for Ukraine and emphasised the importance of NATO and EU enlargement to secure peace in Eastern Europe.

Gerald debated with Petra Erler (author and former head of office of EU Commissioner Günter Verheugen), Claudia Major (German political scientist and head of the Security Policy Research Group at the German Institute for International and Security Affairs). The debate was moderated by Jörg Thadeusz (German journalist).
