ESI est une institution de recherche et de politique créée pour répondre au besoin d'analyse indépendante et approfondie des sujets complexes qui apparaissent au fur et à mesure que la stabilité et la prospérité gagnent tous les coins de l'Europe. ESI a été établie en  juin 1999 par un groupe multinational d'hommes de terrain et d'analystes avec une connaissance approfondie des régions qu'ils étudient.

Notre équipe multidisciplinaire et expérimentée propose aux hommes politiques des analyses stratégiques importantes.

Dans les dix années, ESI a eu un impact substantiel sur la politique internationale menée en Europe du Sud-est. Ses conseils ont été régulièrement sollicités par un certain nombre d'hommes politiques à travers la région.

Dans le but d'encourager la discussion et le débat dans la communauté politique, toutes les publications de ESI sont largement distribuées et gratuitement disponibles sur notre site internet. La poursuite des activités de ESI dépend des contributions financières des gouvernements, ainsi que des personnes morales et physiques.

Alan Grant is an Irish photographer who travelled extensively in the Balkans and other countries and regions of the world. Thanks to him, ESI is able to show fascinating pictures of the Balkans: the facades of Tirana, the painted mosques of Travnik, the fabulous old houses of Plovdiv and the spectacular blue of water - dark in the Bay of Kotor, emerald in the river valleys of Bosnia, deep blue in Ohrid, twinkling in the Aegean Sea and on the Bosporus.

Jonathan Lewis lives between London and Istanbul. He moved to London and spent many years studying photography and now specialises in photojournalism, documentary photography and commercial work for a wide variety of private and commercial clients in the UK, Europe and Turkey. His work has appeared in a number of magazines and publications and is used on the ESI website as well.
