Marijn Clevers Marijn Clevers (Netherlands) became an analyst with ESI in March 2019 after completing a Junior Fellowship. Marijn holds a Masterís degree in Public Policy and Human Development from UNU-Merit, the Maastricht Graduate School of Governance, and a Bachelorís degree in Liberal Arts and Sciences from the University College Maastricht. During her Masterís course, she specialized in social protection policy and financing. Her research interests also included migration, state-building and conflict analysis and resolution. Her master thesis investigated the intractability of Turkey's Kurdish conflict. For her Bachelor thesis she researched why authoritarian rule held sway in Egypt in the aftermath of the Arab Spring. Prior to starting as a Junior Fellow with ESI in August 2018, she did internships with the European Parliament in Brussels and the Netherlands Embassy in Ankara. She also volunteered for a micro-financing project in Ghana and did an internship with the Society of International Development in The Hague. At ESI, Marijn deals primarily with EU migration and asylum policies and human rights in Europe and follows the political situation in the Netherlands.
