ESI holds a seminar on Perspectives on South East European enlargement, presenting and discussing fresh research with representatives of South East European think tanks. Eggert Hardten, Kristof Bender, Verena Knaus, Alex Stiglmayer, Nigar Goksel and Gerald Knaus present ESI’s most recent research. The seminar is sponsored by Rockefeller Brothers Foundation. The 2 day event is held in the heart of Vienna in the historic meeting room of Erste Bank.

Think tanks and organizations that participate are from Kosovo, Serbia, Macedonia, Albania and Bosnia-Hercegovina. It is also decided to create a new network of young policy oriented think tanks that undertake serious empirical research throughout South Eastern Europe.

Alan Grant is an Irish photographer who travelled extensively in the Balkans and other countries and regions of the world. Thanks to him, ESI is able to show fascinating pictures of the Balkans: the facades of Tirana, the painted mosques of Travnik, the fabulous old houses of Plovdiv and the spectacular blue of water - dark in the Bay of Kotor, emerald in the river valleys of Bosnia, deep blue in Ohrid, twinkling in the Aegean Sea and on the Bosporus.
