Vienna – ESI at conference “30 Years after Dayton”

ESI senior analyst Adnan Ćerimagić took part in the international conference “30 Years after Dayton”, held on 2 and 3 December 2025 in Vienna. The two-day event brought together policymakers, academics, and civil society representatives to reflect on the legacy of the Dayton Peace Agreement and its relevance for peacebuilding today.
Adnan contributed to the invited workshop “Since Dayton: Bosnia and Herzegovina Today,” where he delivered a kick-off presentation alongside Ferenc Németh and Alida Vračić. The discussion examined Bosnia and Herzegovina’s political fragmentation, socio-economic challenges, and the prospects for moving from negative to sustainable peace three decades after the end of the war.
In the evening, Adnan also spoke at the public panel “Peacebuilding after Dayton – Lessons for Today,” alongside Maximilian Lakitsch, Olesya Khromeychuk, and Donika Emini. The panel explored what Dayton achieved, where it fell short, and which lessons from Bosnia and Herzegovina’s post-war experience can inform responses to current conflicts, including Ukraine.
Throughout the conference, Adnan presented ESI’s analysis of Bosnia and Herzegovina’s post-Dayton development. He underlined the continued responsibility of European actors to support credible reforms and long-term stability in the Western Balkans.
