Paris – ESI at the inaugural conference of the Intelligence Network in Europe
ESI's Gerald Knaus was invited to the inaugural conference of the Intelligence Network in Europe (INE) to discuss with the heads of the French, Spanish, Croatian and other European intelligence agencies and the EU Commissioner for security to development of a common European intelligence culture. Gerald spoke about the elephant in the room for deepening future European intelligence cooperation: how far can this go with illiberal governments in various EU member states having a radically different vision of threats? The event was concluded with a speech by French President Emmanuel Macron.
While in Paris, Gerald also met with Bishop Denis Jachiet, the French Catholic Church's representative for migration, a team of journalists of Le Monde, as well as with officials in the French ministry of interior and in the Élysée.
