ESI’s Gerald Knaus was invited to give an online lecture at Linköping University in Sweden for students of the course “European Migration and Asylum Policy.”

Citing the example of Australia, Gerald spoke about the tragedy of illegal pushbacks at the EU’s external land and sea borders. He explained the need for migration cooperation agreements with third countries and presented the Canadian approach to refugee resettlement as a model to be replicated elsewhere. He also spoke about the EU-Turkey Statement, its impact, and ESI’s proposal for its revision.
