Kristof Bender participated in a workshop of Recharging Advocacy for Rights in Europe (RARE), a joint initiative of the Hertie School, the Hungarian Helskinki Committee, the Netherlands Helsinki Committee, the Helsinki Foundation for Human Rights  in Poland and Oxfam Novib, organised from 28 to 31 March 2023 in Vienna.  In RARE's second cohort, from fall 2022 till summer 2024, 26 leading staff members of civic organisations from all over the EU take part in 10 capacity- and alliance-building events.

Kristof was invited to the programme's "Networking meeting with Austrian organisations working in the field of human rights", discussing ESI's approach on research and policy advocacy. RARE participants rotated in small groups between eight tables with guests from different NGOs and human rights groups, including besides ESI also Amnesty International Austria, Asylkoordination, ZARA and the Ludwig Boltzmann Institute of Human Rights.
