Capacity Building workshops in Durres and Dajti (Albania)

19 September 2006

ESI initiated two seminars in Albania to deepen its capacity building project. The first workshop on 19 and 20 September was jointly organised with OSI Kosovo. In Durres, the seminar "The Europeanisation of Kosovo" brought together representatives from several NGOs and civil society groups from Kosovo to create closer links among them and to discuss future common research projects.

Together with Agenda Institute, ESI organised another workshop on 21 and 22 September in the Dajti-Mountains close to Tirana ("How to conduct policy research"). ESI analysts introduced the 20 competitively selected participants to the research methodology ESI has developed in the past six years and encouraged them to apply a similar set of questions and techniques to understanding economic and social trends in their own society.

The overall objective was to foster local capacities for independent policy research in Albania and Kosovo. The main aims of the second capacity building seminar were to raise the participants’ methodological skills in order to allow them to carry out independent policy-oriented research in their country and to develop basic skills for policy advocacy.
