ESI analyst Verena Ringler researches Dutch debates on Turkey and the EU

Over the last months, ESI took a close and detailed look at the positions actually taken in the Netherlands, at reasons actually given, and at events and debates that took place in the recent past related to Turkey and the EU.

ESI analyst Verena Ringler is currently on a two-weeks research trip in the Netherlands and will be interviewing leading politicians, foreign ministry officials, bankers, businessmen, academics, journalists, civil society actors, and Dutch-Turks in order to get a more detailed picture of Dutch attitudes towards Turkey.

ESI also analyzed the coverage on Turkey and Turkish EU-accession in the Dutch media, and identified the main actors and institutions generating the Netherlands' expertise on Turkey.
