Paris – ESI at hearing before the PACE Rules Committee on the respect for the rule of law and fight against corruption within the Council of Europe
22 March 2022
ESI’s Gerald Knaus was invited to give a presentation at a hearing on “Respect for the rule of law and fight against corruption within the Council of Europe.” The hearing was organised by the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe and Rapporteur Frank Schwabe (Germany, SOC).
In his presentation, Gerald spoke about the corruption scandals that took place within the Council of Europe under Azerbaijan’s “Caviar Diplomacy” and how this has undermined the democratic nature of the Council and the consequences it has had for the transparency and credibility of the European Court of Human Rights.
