Rome – ESI presentation: Italy, Germany and the Mediterranean a proposal to save lives, the refugee convention and liberal Europe
12 May 2017
ESI's Gerald Knaus presented the latest proposal on how to deal with the humanitarian crises on the EU's Mediterranean borders – from the Aegean to the Central Mediterranean; how to replace the Dublin system for asylum with a fair European system that Germany, Italy, France, and Greece will all find attractive and which actually works; and how pro-European leaders might win elections on a platform combining empathy for refugees with control of irregular migration.
