Berlin – ESI meeting with Dutch Parliamentary Committee on Foreign Affairs
9 September 2022
ESI’s Gerald Knaus was invited for a discussion on migration, EU asylum policies, borders, and human rights with a group of Dutch MPs from the foreign affairs committee at the Dutch embassy in Berlin.
Gerald gave a short presentation, in which he outlined the urgent need for humane borders within the EU and the establishment of policies that respect migrants’ rights to make asylum claims. In addition, Gerald stressed that Europe would see a greater number of Ukrainian refugees coming to the EU this winter and that solidarity is needed to distribute them across the EU to help the countries that are receiving more refugees due to their proximity to Ukraine.
