Daniel Knowles joined ESI in April 2024. He holds a BA in Philosophy and Politics, from the University of Exeter, and an MA in Russian and post-Soviet Politics, from University College London. He also attended King’s College London, where he completed a Post-Graduate Certificate in Global Security. Professionally, he has served in the British Army, where he held a leadership role in a specialised Reconnaissance grouping. During this period, he deployed to Afghanistan and was involved in operations in the Helmand Province. He has also spent time working in the House of Commons and spent six months at the European Values Centre for Security Policy, where he researched Russian subversion operations. At ESI, he is currently researching Russian influence in the areas of politics and business.
