Marcus Cox (former staff)
Marcus Cox (Australia) is ESI’s Senior Editor and a founding member. For many years, he managed the ESI office in Sarajevo and coordinated the team working on the Bosnian Governance Assessment project, which was supported by the UK’s Department for International Development. An international lawyer by profession, Marcus had worked in Bosnia since 1996, including as an advisor to the High Representative on property issues. Today, in addition to working part-time for ESI, he is a London-based consultant on international development and director of Agulhas Applied Knowledge. He consults for a range of development agencies on policy development, programme design, research and evaluation, specialising in aid effectiveness, governance and political economy analysis. He is one of the lead reviewers for the UK’s Independent Commission for Aid Impact. Marcus completed a PhD at Cambridge University on the creation of the Bosnian state.
