Sanggeet Mithra (former staff)
Sanggeet Mithra (Malaysia) holds a Bachelors in Politics and International Relations from Scripps College, an all-women's liberal arts college in Claremont, California. Her research has primarily focused on South Asia, studying the possibilities of alternative economic models (Gandhian economics) and evolving gender dynamics in the context of a rapidly-modernizing India. Prior to joining ESI as a Junior Fellow, she was the Lead Trainer and Content Developer for a social innovation firm in Kuala Lumpur, curating and running workshops and programs based on empathy and design thinking for youth. Besides English, Sanggeet is fluent in Malay, Tamil, and Spanish. In her free time, she is a co-coordinator for the UWC Short Course Turkey, a summer program for youth from Europe, the Middle East and North Africa regions that tackles the topic of transnational identities and migration. She is planning to pursue a Masters in migration studies and/or urbanism in the near future.
