ESI's Gerald Knaus participated in this year's on "Transition in Trouble – How to Tackle Negative Trends in the Eastern Neighbourhood". He spoke about visa issues, Azerbaijan and promoting democracy in Eastern European Council of Europe member states.

Participants included Valdis Dombrovskis, Latvian prime minister, Carl Bildt, Swedish foreign minister, Boris Nemtsov, co-chair of the Republican Party of Russia, Marko Mihkelson, chair of the Estonian foreign affairs committee, Emanuelis Zingeris, chair of Lithuanian foreign affairs committee, and Eka Tkeshelashvili, former Georgian foreigh minister.
