ESI’s Gerald Knaus was invited to the Leipzig Book Fair to present his latest book "Wir und die Flüchtlinge" (We and the refugees) and speak at a panel discussion on solidarity and human dignity. Gerald was joined by political scientist Natascha Strobl and writer Ilija Trojanow. During the discussion, Gerald stressed the importance of solidarity and human dignity in addressing the challenges faced by refugees and migrants.

Later that day, Gerald also participated in another panel focused on how encounters can change things and situations, views, and people. A total of six books were discussed, including stories of searching for one's own past, finding answers to pressing social questions, and random acquaintances. Alongside Gerald, the panel featured Franz Hohler, Sonja Weichand, Katja Keweritsch, Martin Gross, and Kenza Ait Si Abbou.

The previous day, Gerald met with Armin Schuster, the state minister of the interior of Saxony, and his team in Dresden to discuss practical and humane ways of migration control and refugee protection.
