ESI's Alexandra Stiglmayer spoke at an event on "Turkey and the EU: Shared Challenges and Common Opportunities" organised by the Istanbul Policy Center (IPC) and the Friends of Turkey in the European Parliament.

Questions discussed were whether Turkey-EU relations are beyond realpolitik, whether the EU does have the power to leverage Turkey to improve its position on fundamental rights, and whether Turkey and the European Union are capable of using their potential together for facing common challenges.

Alexandra's panel on "Turkey and the current challenges" was moderated by Nilgün Arısan Eralp, Director of European Union Institute, TEPAV.
