Verena Knaus was a discussant in an event entitled "No Holds Barred" on the future of Kosovo organised by ESI's partner IKS with a specialist panel made up of IKS board members who spoke frankly about what they perceived were the country's major challenges.

Tim Judah, Balkan Correspondent of the Economist, lamented Kosovo's poor image abroad which obscured much of the country's optimism and achievements. Verena Knaus, Senior ESI Analyst, also highlighted the positive developments of recent years but stressed the need for more public debate about the future of the country. Essential to this future was agriculture development, according to Eggert Hardten, Balkan Specialist and IKS President, as well as a fairer EU visa policy. Dominik Zaum, author of "The Sovereignty Paradox", gave his analysis of the international mission in Kosovo which continued the animated discussion in Prishtina's Grand Hotel.
