Ignorance, fear and prejudice – do Europeans get Turkey?

The European Institute of Istanbul Bilgi University and the European Stability Initiative
are pleased to invite you to the panel discussion

Do European media paint a realistic picture of Turkey? Are there issues under-represented or over-represented? What other sources of information – for example, the migrant communities – do Europeans use to form their image of Turkey?

These questions will be discussed by Gerald Knaus, Director of the European Stability Initiative, who will present the results of one year of detailed monitoring of the coverage of Turkey in the media of five EU countries: Austria, Belgium, France, Germany and the Netherlands. Further panellist are Senem Aydın Düzgit and Peter Widmann, both from Bilgi University's European Institute.

Opening: Prof. Dr. Yeşim Atamer, Deputy Director of the European Institute
