ESI’s Gerald Knaus was invited to give a lecture on “Borders, migration and the future of asylum” organised by the University of Education Upper Austria.

Gerald presented the main ideas from his book “Welche Grenzen brauchen wir?”, focusing on the urgent need of humane borders and humane migration policies. Gerald argued that illegal pushbacks at the EU’s external borders need to come to an end.

In addition, he spoke about the current refugee crisis in Ukraine due to Russia’s invasion and how the EU should respond with a united airlift.
