Ekin Özbakkaloglu (Turkey) joined ESI as a junior fellow in November 2013. She graduated from Galatasaray University's Department of International Relations and holds a master's degree in Russian, Eurasian and East European Studies from Georgetown University. Before joining ESI, she was a research fellow at the Caucasian Institute for Economic and Social Research based in Tbilisi, Georgia. She worked as an intern at the Stimson Center (Washington DC), the Georgian Foundation for Strategic and International Studies (Tbilisi, Georgia), and the Centre for Economics and Foreign Policy Studies (Istanbul, Turkey). Her main fields of interest are politics and security in Eurasia, especially in Turkey and the South Caucasus, but her work also focuses on peace and conflict studies, humanitarian affairs, and the European Union.
