Industrial zone

The Kayseri Organised Industrial Zone is one of Turkey's largest and includes more than 500 firms, 17 of which are in the top 500 list of Turkey. It became functional in 1986 and covers 2,350 hectares of land. In July 2004 Prime Minister Tayyip Erdogan launched the construction of 139 new halls. In July 2004 Kayseri applied to the Guinness Book of Records for the largest number of factories being constructed on a single day (139). By now, a total of 220 new halls are under construction.
